# Spring launch checklist

Spring commissioning is winterizing in reverse plus a safety check. Book the launch early, and do this list before the boat goes in.

## Before launch

- Wrap off, look around: Check the hull, through-hulls, prop, drive and trim tabs for winter damage.
- Drain plug in: The most common launch-day mistake.
- Batteries: Charged, clean terminals, reconnected.
- Engine: Belts, hoses, impeller, fluids, fuel filters. Flush antifreeze per the manual.
- Water and head: Flush antifreeze, check pumps and fittings for leaks.
- Safety gear: PFDs for everyone, flares in date, fire extinguisher, bailer, sound signal, licence and proof of competency aboard.

## Questions

**When can I launch?**

After ice-out and once the yard’s schedule allows. See the [haul-out and launch calendar](https://boatparking.ca/guides/haul-out-and-launch-calendar/).
