Wide beam, low draft, big covers

Pontoon boat storage

Pontoons are easy to haul and hard to fit. An 8.5 ft beam and a bimini need wide doors and a lot of floor. Tell us the length, the beam and whether it sits on a trailer, and we find a spot that takes it.

  • Trailer or bunks
  • Wide doors
  • Bimini down
  • Tritoons

Getting a pontoon through winter

Lower the bimini

Fold it down or take it off. Snow on a raised top bends frames.

Pull the cushions

Take cushions and electronics home, or at least prop them up so air moves. Mice love pontoon furniture.

Check the tubes

Look for dents and listen for water before storage. Fixing a leak in a dry tube is easier in fall.

Winterize the outboard

Stabilizer, fog, gear oil. Most pontoons have one outboard, so it is a quick job.

Some indoor buildings price pontoons by square foot because of the beam.

Pontoon questions

Can a pontoon stay on its lift over winter?

Only where the lake ice does not move much and the lift is rated for it. Ice push can wreck a lift and the boat. Most cottage owners pull it out.

Does a pontoon fit in a normal storage unit?

Rarely. Garage-style units are often 8 ft wide. Look for buildings with doors at least 10 ft wide.
