Tight, framed, vented

Boat shrink-wrapping

A good wrap sheds snow, breathes, and stays tight until spring. Shrink-wrap is booked together with storage in most yards, and we arrange it as part of your request.

Signs of a good wrap

A frame or support

Straps or a wood or PVC frame so the top is pitched and snow slides off.

Vents

Several vents to let moisture out. A sealed wrap grows mould.

Tight and below the rub rail

Strapped under the hull and heat-shrunk tight, so it does not flap and chafe.

Access door

An optional zipper door lets you get aboard over winter.

Shrink-wrap questions

Shrink-wrap or winter cover?

Wrap is single-use and costs less in a given year. A fitted canvas cover with a frame lasts many seasons and pays for itself after a few years. See the shrink-wrap guide.

When should the boat be wrapped?

After winterizing and before snow, usually late October to mid-November.

Can the plastic be recycled?

Many regions have spring collection programs for boat wrap. Ask the yard.
