Fishing boat storage

Most fishing boats live on their trailers and move between lakes all summer. In winter the questions are simple: a safe lot or a building near home, and an outboard and kicker winterized before the frost.

  • On the trailer
  • Outboard and kicker
  • Livewells
  • Ice-fishing season

Fishing boat questions

Can I keep the boat in my driveway?

It depends on the city and the season. Several cities limit driveway parking in winter. See can I park my boat in my driveway.

Do I need to drain livewells?

Yes, and run the pumps dry. Water left in lines and pumps freezes and cracks them.
